Tech picked to win ACC's Coastal Division

GREENSBORO, Ga. - The Virginia Tech football squad was picked as the preseason favorite to win the ACC's Coastal Division by a group of media members assembled at the 2008 ACC Kickoff, being held at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee. The preseason poll was released just prior to the 12 coaches of conference schools meeting with the media Monday afternoon.

Tech received 58 of 65 first-place votes for 383 points and is followed, in order, by North Carolina (288 points), Miami (253 points), Georgia Tech (195 points), Virginia (161 points) and Duke (85 points)

Clemson is the pick to win the Atlantic Division and to win the ACC Championship game, receiving 59 first-place votes and 383 points. The Tigers are followed in that division by Wake Forest (304 points), Florida State (265 points), Boston College (154 points), Maryland (147 points) and NC State (112 points).

Clemson received 51 votes as the winner of the championship game. The Kickoff wraps up Tuesday morning with the Commissioner's Forum and announcement of the ACC Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
