August 4, 2009

Tech Talk LIVE!, presented by Geico, an innovative new radio program covering the Virginia Tech Hokies hosted by Bill Roth, will make its debut on Monday night, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.

The radio program, which can be heard on roughly 37-radio stations throughout the mid-Atlantic region on the Virginia Tech ISP Sports Network, will air from 7-9 p.m. each Monday night and will feature Hokies head football coach Frank Beamer, members of his coaching staff, Director of Athletics Jim Weaver, former Tech football players, plus current players each week.

Tech Talk LIVE!, presented by Geico replaces the Hokie Hotline which occupied the same time slot since the late 1970s. The new program will continue to encourage fan interaction with Virginia Tech coaches and administrators and will originate from a new state-of-the-art studio and stage at Bull & Bones Brewhaus and Grill.

“We are extremely excited to re-launch and re-brand our Monday night radio program,” said ISP Vice-President and General Manager Rick Barakat. “Tech Talk LIVE! presented by Geico is going to be a high-energy format chock full of the latest news and information regarding Virginia Tech athletics.”

“Bull & Bones will be an excellent location for the show that will provide a great platform for our coaches, administrators and guests. We are proud to partner with our new title sponsor in Geico and such a great new restaurant here in Blacksburg like Bull & Bones.”

The new format calls for additional guests and a quicker pacing than in previous years which should make for an entertaining and informative program.

“The overall format of the show will allow us to provide more information about our football program to our fans every week,” said Tech coach Frank Beamer.

Bull and Bones Brewhaus and Grill is a new brewpub with both an upscale dining room and a separate sports bar with a casual dining area. The brewpub is located in the new “First & Main” complex on South Main Street in Blacksburg.

“We’re extremely thrilled to have Tech Talk Live! here at Bull & Bones,” said owner-operator Mark Shrader. “We’ll be easily able to accommodate large crowds for this on a weekly basis and our menu fits great with our ribs, and smoked wings.

The program, which will also be available on-line each week through hokiesports.com, will air each Monday night, beginning Aug. 24, continuing through the conclusion of men’s basketball season in March 2010.

A lineup of guests scheduled to appear on the show will be released each Monday on hokiesports.com.
