106.7 The Fan (http://1067thefandc.com/) and the Virginia Tech ISP Sports Network have announced a multi-year agreement by which 106.7 The Fan will broadcast the school’s football and basketball games, beginning with the 2010 season.

106.7 The Fan will also carry the weekly “Tech Talk Live” shows, hosted by Bill Roth and featuring Virginia Tech Head Football Coach Frank Beamer and Basketball Coach Seth Greenberg.

“We are very excited to enter into this long-term partnership with Virginia Tech sports,” said Chris Kinard, Program Director, 106.7 The Fan. “Virginia Tech has a very large and passionate fan base in the D.C. area. We know Hokies fans will be thrilled to hear their team on our crystal clear FM signal across the region.”

Virginia Tech’s nationally-ranked football team has won 10 or more games in each of the past six seasons. The Hokies have appeared in a bowl game in each of the last 17 years.

Tech’s basketball team won a school-record 25 games this past season and has competed in post-season tournaments in each of the last four seasons.

“We are delighted for our fans in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. who will be able to hear our games on a strong FM signal,” Virginia Tech Director of Athletics Jim Weaver said. “We are very pleased to announce this partnership with 106.7 The Fan and CBS RADIO as they join the Virginia Tech ISP Sports Network.”

The Hokies will kickoff the 2010 season on Labor Day Monday with a prime time game against Boise State. The game will be played at Washington’s FedExField.

“Northern Virginia and the D.C. market represent Virginia Tech’s largest alumni base, so this is an exciting time for our fans,” Roth said. “TOUCHDOWN TECH! will be heard loud and clear inside and outside the beltway and beyond. This is a great new home of the Hokies in D.C.” Roth, and analyst Mike Burnop begin their 23rd season together as Virginia Tech’s broadcast crew this fall.

106.7 The Fan serves the Washington, D.C. area with a top-rated lineup of local sports personalities including The Sports Junkies, The Mike Wise Show with Holden Kushner, The LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes, and Overtime with Bill Rohland. 106.7 The Fan also broadcasts the Washington Wizards, NFL Playoffs, and has aired Washington Capitals playoff games since 2008. The station is owned and operated by CBS RADIO.

ISP is the sales and marketing partner for more than 60 universities, conferences, bowl games and venues across the country, making it the largest collegiate athletics marketing company in America.
