Football players to wear Pink wristbands vs. Central Michigan
To be auctioned off for Breast Cancer Research Foundation

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Head coach Frank Beamer and the Virginia Tech football team announced today that the Virginia Tech football players and coaches will wear pink Nike wristbands in support of Breast Cancer Awareness when they battle Central Michigan, Saturday, at noon in Lane Stadium. The pink wristbands will be auctioned off online at hokiesports.com and all funds donated will go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The online auction will begin at 10 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, and will continue through Monday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. Each individual player or coach’s wristband will not be auctioned, but rather the wristbands will be grouped by position or in the coaches category. Thus there will only be nine separate auction items. The categories will include quarterbacks, running backs, offensive linemen, tight ends/wide receivers, defensive linemen, linebackers, defensive backs, special teams and coaches.

In addition, a white Virginia Tech football helmet will be added to each of the nine auction items for the winning bid. Anyone wishing to bid on the wristbands can do so by logging onto hokiesports.com/auction.
