BLACKSBURG (hokiesports.com) - The Virginia Tech Athletics Communications Office has once again launched a preseason football blog to help you, the fans, stay close to the action during camp. This year’s blog has gone completely social with more photos and less text and can be found on Tumblr via the team’s page, vthokiefootball.tumblr.com, while also tying in updates on Twitter and Instagram.
The Tumblr blog is where you can find all of the stories, blogs, videos, photos and more in Camp Confidential and some pictures will be posted to Twitter and Instagram as well. Since we’re planning on posting a ton of photos during the camp, Tumblr is the place to go so fans’ feeds aren’t overloaded with pictures. It’ll kick off Sunday when the players report back to Blacksburg for check-in, which includes heights, weights, forms and a team meeting. The team will take the field for the first time Monday night. All practices are closed to the public except for the two open scrimmages (Aug. 10 and 17, both at 7 p.m.).
This year, we will be covering all aspects of preseason camp, showing you what a typical day during camp is like for everyone involved, but in photo essay form. On Monday, Aug. 12, we’ll follow running backs coach Shane Beamer around from the time he arrives at Merryman in the morning until the lights are off in his office that night. We will see what camp is like from the players’ perspectives, while also looking at what goes in to preparing for the daily grind through the eyes of the equipment, training, nutrition and video staffs.
The first week, we’ll have Instagram videos of all the newcomers so you can put a name with a face and get to know your new Hokies. We’ll be using the hashtag #HokieCamp throughout, along with the #ScoreboardWatch2013 as we watch the progression of the new video and scoreboard in the north end zone being put up.
We’ll also have scrimmage reports and videos to give you a feel for what’s going on with the Hokies during camp.
Be sure to check back often for updates from the preseason as the Hokies start to prepare to open the 2013 season in Atlanta at the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against Alabama four weeks from Saturday (Aug. 31).
We’ll kick off game week with #HokiePride week on Instagram as fans can submit their best pictures wearing Virginia Tech gear that we’ll repost them on Instagram and then each week during the season we’ll have a different theme for fans to interact and submit photos on Instagram.
So be sure to follow us on Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram for all the latest news and pictures from behind the scenes. All three sites are free to join and if you don’t want to create an account to follow us, check back periodically on your own for the updates.
