Portion of proceeds donated to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

BLACKSBURG (hokiesports.com) — Head Coach Frank Beamer and the Virginia Tech football team announced today the orange camouflage helmets and white military-themed jerseys to be worn during the Hokies’ “Military Appreciation” game vs. Marshall will be auctioned off online at hokiesports.com, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Hokies are wearing the camo helmets and jerseys to honor those who have served in the military, are currently serving, and those who have lost their lives or were injured in the line of duty. The Hokies and Thundering Herd are slated to kickoff at noon on Saturday, with the game being nationally televised on ESPNU.

Both the helmet and jersey auctions will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept.18, and will continue through Friday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. Anyone wishing to bid on either item can do so by logging onto hokiesports.com/auction. There will be a minimum bid of $600 on the helmets and a minimum bid of $300 on the jerseys. All orders will have a $25 shipping fee added to the end of the bid.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a national leader in supporting the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families and has provided over $150 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans.
