Details announced for annual Spring Game events
Tech set to host HokieBird Festival, Spirit Clinic, and Canned Food Drive

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Tech Athletics Department will hold the fifth annual HokieBird Spring Festival on Saturday, April 26 prior to the annual Maroon-White spring football game. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the turf field across from Lane Stadium. The festival will offer many activities for children and families, including inflatables, interactive sponsor set-ups, backyard games, an autograph session with the Virginia Tech spirit squad and an appearance by the HokieBird. The event is open to the general public and is free of charge.

Spirit Clinic
Also prior to the spring football game, the Virginia Tech spirit squads will play host to a spirit clinic in Cassell Coliseum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic is only $25 per person and is open to all youth from ages 5 to 18. Included in the two-hour session is a t-shirt and spirit poster. Those participating will perform their final routine on Worsham Field prior to the spring football game. Participants may register at the door from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., or in advance by contacting Perren Young at perren@vt.edu.

Canned Food Drive
Virginia Tech will be teaming with Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship and 209 Manna Ministries, the Virginia Tech food pantry, to hold a canned food drive prior to the spring football game. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food items and drop them off upon entrance to the game. Collection bins will be located at all gates. All donations will benefit Feeding America and 209 Manna Ministries.

Admission for the Maroon-White game is free of charge, and gates will open at noon. Parking will be available on a first-come, first serve basis beginning at 7 a.m. For more information, be sure to visit Spring Game Central.
