Defensive tackle played Georgia Tech game with torn meniscus

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech starting defensive tackle Luther Maddy will undergo surgery Tuesday morning to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Tony McPherron at LewisGale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg.

Maddy suffered the tear in the East Carolina game, but played 48 defensive snaps against Georgia Tech. Nigel Williams will replace him as the starter.
