Eighteenth Annual Hokies For The Hungry Planned For Thursday

The Marching Virginians and New Life Christian Fellowship are joining forces again this year to sponsor a massive canned food drive in conjunction with the Virginia Tech vs. Miami football game on Thursday, October 23, 2014. The goal of the ambitious eighteenth annual HOKIES FOR THE HUNGRY drive is to collect 66,233 cans of food – One Can from Every Fan!

Ken Ekanem, the dynamic defensive end for the Hokies, is serving as Honorary Chairperson of HOKIES FOR THE HUNGRY. “As the 2014 holiday season approaches, let us share in the spirit of Thanksgiving with friends, family and those within this special community. This time of the year provides a wonderful opportunity to share and help provide for the less fortunate families and individuals throughout the region. It is my hope that Virginia Tech and Miami fans will find it in their hearts to share and donate towards an exceptional cause during this special time of year.”

Drop-off points for HOKIES FOR THE HUNGRY are at all entrances to Lane Stadium and various locations near the stadium where Tailgate Pep Bands will be performing prior to kick- off.

All contributions will be distributed through the Montgomery County Christmas Store.
