Hokies Eighth at Matlock
McKeel tied for sixth individually

LAKELAND, Fla.--The Virginia Tech golf team is in eighth place with a 11-over par 587 after the first two rounds of the Matlock Collegiate Classic at the 7,065-yard, par-72 Grasslands Golf and Country Club in Lakeland, Fla.
The Hokies shot three-over par 291 in the first round and eight-over par 296 in the second round. Both rounds were played Monday.
Senior Chris McKeel (Wilson, N.C.) is tied for sixth place with a two-under par 142. Geoffrey Harris of ODU leads at six-under par 138.
Senior Brendon de Jonge (Harare, Zimbabwe) is tied for 11th place at one-under par 143 and redshirt sophomore Scott Wise (Vinton, Va.) is tied for 24th place at three-over par 147. Junior Ryan Stinnett (Amherst, Va.) is tied for 73rd at 157 and redshirt junior Matt Hollerbach is tied for 77th at 158.
Rollins College and Miami of Ohio are tied for the lead at two-over par 578. UNC Wilmington is third at 580 and Ohio State and Tulsa are tied for fourth at 582. Colorado and host Florida Southern are tied for sixth at 585, two strokes ahead of the Hokies. Missouri is in ninth at 590 and Old Dominion rounds out the top 10 at 591.
This is the Hokies' first event of the spring season. The third and final round will be played Tuesday morning.
