Tech 4th After Day One at Furman
Stinnett records a 72 to lead Hokies

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Virginia Tech shot a 292, good for fourth place after the first round of the Furman Intercollegiate Friday afternoon. The event is being played at the 6,791-yard, par 72 Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
Hokie Ryan Stinnett shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 12th place. Brian Krusoe and Johnson Wagner each shot 73 and are tied for 19th place. Brendon de Jonge shot a 74, good for a tie for 32nd place, and Chris McKeel shot a 77 and is tied for 64th place.
Two Hokies are playing the tournament as individuals. Eric Reynolds shot a 79 and is tied for 78th place and Scott Wise shot an 80, good for a tie for 86th place.
Host Furman leads the 20-team tournament after shooting three-under par, 285 on day one. Virginia Commonwealth is second with an even-par 288 and Maryland is in third with a 290, two strokes better than the Hokies. Coastal Carolina is fifth with a 293.
The second round will be played Saturday, with the finals on Sunday.
