Tech Finishes Fourth at Matlock Collegiate Classic
Krusoe finishes 7th to lead Hokies

LAKELAND, Fla. - Virginia Tech opened the spring season in strong form, shooting a final round 309 to finish fourth in the Matlock Collegiate Classic at the Grasslands Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla. The Hokies shot a 313-307-309=929.
Two Hokies recorded top-10 finishes. Brian Krusoe led the Hokies with a 79-71-80=230 and finished tied for seventh place. Johnson Wagner tied for 10th with a 78-75-78=231 and Chris McKeel shot a 79-79-76=234 for a tie for 21st place. Ryan Stinnett shot 77-84-75=236 and finished in a tie for 27th place and Brendon de Jonge was tied for 54th place with an 81-82-80=243.
Host Florida Southern won the 18-team event with a 903, 13 strokes better than Alabama, which finished second with a 916. Stanford was third, shooting 919. Tech completed the second round in the morning before playing the final round.
The Hokies compete in the Ironwood Intercollegiate on March 11-13 at the Ironwood Golf Club in Greenville, N.C.
