Tech Fifth After Day One of Wofford
Wagner fires a 140 to lead Hokies

Virginia Tech shot 298-288=586, good for fifth place after the first day of the Wofford Invitational Friday afternoon. The event is being played at the par-72 Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C.
Hokie Johnson Wagner shot a four-under-par 140 and is in third place, individually. Brendon de Jonge and Chris McKeel each shot 148 and are tied for 23rd place. Brian Krusoe shot 150, good for a tie for 28th place, and Ryan Stinnett shot 155 and is tied for 42nd place.
Two Hokies are playing the tournament as individuals. Scott Wise shot 153 and is tied for 36th place and Tommy Graham shot 158, good for a tie for 49th place.
Coastal Carolina leads the 11-team tournament after shooting an even-par, 291-285=576 on day one. Furman shot 294-285=579 and is in second place and Maryland shot 299-281=580 and is in third place. UNC Greensboro shot 292-289=581 and is in fourth place, five strokes ahead of the Hokies.
The final round will be played Saturday.
