NEW LONDON, N.C. - Virginia Tech has a two-round total of 623 and is in 10^th place at the 2005 ACC Men's Golf Championship at the 7,102-yard, par-72 Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point in New London, N.C.

Freshman Nick MacDonald (Harare, Zimbabwe) is tied for 21^st place after shooting 76 in each of the first two rounds for a 152 total. Ryan Blaum of Duke leads the event with a five-under-par 139, four strokes better than Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech and Jack Ferguson of Clemson. Blaum shot the only sub-par round of the day, a one-under-par 71.

Sophomore Ryan Sypniewski (Radford, Va.) is tied for 28^th at 154 and redshirt senior Scott Wise (Vinton, Va.) is tied for 38^th place at 157. Junior Joel Kraner (Dublin, Ohio) is tied for 43^rd at 161 and freshman Chad Fultz (Staunton, Va.) is tied for 49^th at 165.

Duke and Georgia Tech are tied at 583, nine strokes better than NC State and 10 strokes better than defending champion, Clemson. Virginia is fifth at 602, Florida State is sixth at 603 and Wake Forest is seventh at 605. Maryland, which shot the high round of the day at 316, is in eighth place at 618, one stroke better than North Carolina and five strokes better than the Hokies.

The Hokies entered the day in ninth place, but shot a 315 and fell into 10^th place. The 10-team, 54-hole event will concluded with the final 18-hole round on Sunday. The winner of the event receives an automatic berth into one of three NCAA Regionals in May.
