Hokie Golfers Record a Strong Finish at PSINet Collegiate
Four Hokies Make the Top 20 Against Rugged Competition

DELLWOOD, Minn. -- Four Virginia Tech golfers finished in the top 20 to give the Hokies a second place finish against some of the toughest competition in college golf on Tuesday at Dellwood Hills Golf Club. Tech competed against 11 other top golf programs from around the country in the 2000 PSINet Collegiate Invitational.
Johnson Wagner (Garrison, N.Y.), a junior at Tech, finished fourth in the tournament with an even par score of 72 in the third round on Tuesday, for a final total of 219. Brian Krusoe (Northfield, Ohio) shot a final round of 76 to finish in the ninth spot with a total of 223. Brendon De Jonge (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Ryan Stinnett (Amherst, Va.) finished in the Top 20 with totals of 224 and 226, respectively. Chris McKeel (Wilson, N.C.) shot an 80 in the third round of play placing him in the 48tth slot with a total of 236.
Tech's second round score of 289 was the low round of the tournament. The University of Minnesota finished first in the tournament with its own Wilhelm Schauman finishing first individually with a 212 overall score.
Virginia Tech will next compete in The Adams Cup of Newport at Point Judith Country Club, Oct. 3 and 4.
