Virginia Tech Takes Lead at 2000 Duke Golf Classic
Team Holds Four-Stroke Advantage Going into Final Round

DURHAM, N.C. -- Virginia Tech fired a two-round score of 292-290=582 on Sunday to claim a four-stroke lead over Augusta State and N.C. State at the 2000 Duke Golf Classic held at the 7,104-yard, par-72 Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
The final round will begin at 8 a.m., on Monday.
Individually, a second round score of 65 propelled Wake Forest's Brent Wanner (75-65=140) into a two-shot advantage over Virginia Tech's Brendon DeJonge (69-73=142), Virginia's Cameron Yancey (74-68=142), Maryland's Corey Brigham (72-70=142) and Duke's Leif Olson (69-73=142).
Virginia Tech's Brian Krusoe (74-71=145), N.C. State's Chris Mundorf (72-73=145) and Augusta State's Oliver Wilson (73-72=145) stand five strokes off the pace.
Following Virginia Tech are Augusta State (292-294=586) and N.C. State (301-285=586) in a tie for second place while Wake Forest (308-282=590) and Virginia (297-293=590) are tied for fourth. Defending champion and host Duke (301-290=591) is in sixth place, nine shots back.
