Hokies Ninth After Second Round at Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Virginia Tech shot a one-over-par 289 in the second round and moved up to ninth place at the Landfall Tradition at the par-72, 6,948-yard Country Club of Landfall Nicklaus Course in Wilmington, N.C. on Saturday. The Hokies have a two-day total of 582.
Sophomore Ryan Sypniewski (Radford, Va.) shot a one-under-par 71 and is tied for 11th place individally. at 141 Will Shambley of host UNC Wilmington leads the event at 134.
Redshirt senior Scott Wise (Vinton, Va.) is tied for 24th overall at 145 after a 71 in the second round and junior Joel Kraner (Dublin, Ohio) is tied for 26th place at 146. Freshman Will Oldham (Richmond, Va.) is tied for 40th at 150 and freshman Chad Fultz (Staunton, Va.) is tied for 55th at 154.
Michigan State leads the tournament at 10-under-par 566, two strokes ahead of Purdue and day one leader, Duke. Tulsa is fourth at 573 and Ohio State is fifth at 575. Coastal Carolina and Minnesota are tied for sixth at 579 and Xavier is eighth at 581, one stroke ahead of the Hokies. Host UNC Wilmington is 10th at 583.
The 54-hole, 12 team tournament concludes with a final 18 holes on Sunday afternoon. This is Tech's final event of the fall schedule.
