NEWPORT, R.I.- The Virginia Tech golf team is tied for second place with UNC Charlotte after two rounds of competition in the Adams Cup of Newport Collegiate Golf Tournament, which was held at the Newport Country Club Tuesday. Tech shot a 289 and a 288 on the par-72 course.

The Hokies were led by team captain Brian Krusoe who shot a 70 and a 73, leaving him in 9th place overall. Brendon De Jonge tied for 10th finishing one stroke behind Krusoe, shooting a 69 and 75. Johnson Wagner and Chris McKeel finished in a tie for 21st place shooting two round totals of 147. Also contributing for Tech was Ryan Stinnett finishing with a total of 148, putting him in a tie for 28th.

Teams include Southeastern Louisiana, Virginia Tech, UNC Charlotte, Wofford College, Furman University, University of Mississippi, Georgia State, Rhode Island, East Carolina, Yale, Central Florida, Connecticut, and Providence College. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes Wednesday, Oct. 4.
