Hokies Finsh Sixth at Landfall
Stinnett finishes ninth individually

Wilmington, N.C. -- Virginia Tech shot a three-day total of 887 and finished in sixth place at The Landfall Tradition at the 6,997 yard, par-72 Pete Dye Course of the Country Club at Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. Sunday afternoon.
Junior Ryan Stinnett (Amherst, Va.) tied for ninth place with a total of 217. He led the Hokies on the final day with a two-under-par 70.
Redshirt sophomore Scott Wise (Roanoke, Va.) and senior Brendon de Jonge (Harare, Zimbabwe) tied for 23rd place at 224. Senior Chris McKeel (Wilson, N.C.) tied for 30th place at 226 and freshman Joel Kraner (Dublin, Oh.) tied for 50th at 236.
Defending national champion Minnesota won the event, defeating tournament host UNC Wilmington in a playoff. Both teams finished the tournament at 863. Missouri was third, seven strokes back at 870 and Duke was fourth at 874. Purdue finished fifth at 884, three strokes ahead of the Hokies, who shot a final round 290 on Sunday. Tulsa, Furman, Penn State and Charlotte rounded out the top 10. Matt Anderson and Justin Smith of Minnesota tied for medalist honors at 211.
This is the Hokies final team competition of the fall season. De Jonge will participate in the Western Refining All-American Golf Classic at the El Paso Country Club in El Paso, Tex. Nov. 25-26.
