GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Virginia Tech golfers Jurrian van der Vaart, Carl Wakely and Drew Weaver have been named to the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Golf Team. Virginia Tech was one of four teams to place at least three players on the team.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

A sophomore from Almelo, the Netherlands, van der Vaart is majoring in environmental science at Virginia Tech. Wakely is a junior from Cardiff, Wales majoring in history and Weaver is a freshman majoring in business. All three players competed for the Hokies' five-man squad at the 2006 ACC Men's Golf Championship in New London, N.C. in April.
