BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech golf program has announced that Jacob Everts has signed a national letter of intent to attend Virginia Tech and play golf for the Hokies in Fall 2009.

Everts, from Ooltewah, Tenn., attends The McCallie School, where he is an honor student. For the class of 2009, he is currently ranked 11th in the Polo Golf Rankings and 30th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.

He is an American Junior Golf Association honorable mention All-American. He finished second in the 2008 AJGA Stanford Financial Junior Championship and the 2008 AJGA Knoxville Junior Championship. He placed sixth in the 2008 AJGA Ping Invitational. He was a 2008 first-team TSHSAA All-Region performer and was inducted into The McCallie School Cum Laude Society for Academic Excellence.

“Jacob is a very consistent player that will transition smoothly from junior golf to competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference,” Virginia Tech head coach Jay Hardwick said. “An excellent student as well, Jacob is accustomed to success academically and athletically and should have an outstanding career at Virginia Tech both on the course and in the classroom.”

Everts joins Mikey Moyers of Ruckersville, Virginia, who signed earlier in the signing period to play golf for Virginia Tech.
