Final Results

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Virginia Tech fired a final round even-par 288 and finished with a three-round total of 870, good for seventh place at the fifth annual UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate on Sunday. The tournament was played at the 7,197-yard, par-72 Forest Oaks Country Club.

The Hokies entered the final round tied for 12th after shooting identical 291s in each of Saturday’s two rounds. Tech’s 288 was the fifth-best round of Sunday.

Junior Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) led the Hokies with a three round total of four-under-par 212 and tied for 12th place. He finished seven strokes behind medalist Amory Davis of Virginia.

Sophomore Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Tex.) tied for 32nd at three-over-par 219 and junior Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) tied for 38th place at 221. Freshman Mikey Moyers (Standardsville, Va.) tied for 40th place at 222 and junior Aaron Eckstein (Salem,Va.) tied for 64th at 227. Bailey, Green and Moyers each shot final round one-under-par 71s.

Georgia Tech shot a 21-under-par 843 and captured team honors, defeating Virginia by seven strokes. Michigan, which held the lead entering the final round, fell to third at 853 and Augusta State finished fourth at 854. Tennessee was fifth at 861 and North Carolina was sixth at 864, six strokes ahead of the Hokies. Michigan State was eighth at 871, Duke was ninth at 872 and Purdue was 10th at 876. Toledo was 11th at 877, host UNC Greensboro was 12th at 881, VCU and Minnesota tied for 13th at 883 and Notre Dame finished 15th at 888.

This was Tech’s final tournament of the fall season. The Hokies’ next action will be Feb. 21-23, as they travel to San Juan to compete in the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Country.Club’s River Course.
