NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Sue Napolitano tallied six goals, and Andrea Legath added three more in Vanderbilt's 14-7 win over Virginia Tech Monday afternoon in Nashville. Suzy Funston had four goals for the Hokies in the losing effort.

Vanderbilt jumped to an early lead, as Legath struck just 20 seconds into the contest. Vandy had a 4-0 lead when Lisa Givens put Tech on the board with 20:34 left in the first half. However, the Commodores proved nearly unstoppable in the first half, building an 11-goal lead before Funston tallied her first goal of the day to close the Hokies' deficit to 12-2 at the break.

Shana Crabtree had six saves while allowing just three goals in 44 minutes of play in goal for the Commodores. Freshman Emily Lough had one save in 16 minutes of action. For Tech, goalie Melissa Wagner stopped four shots in 26 minutes. Her relief, freshman Stacey Rainbolt, allowed just two goals in 34 minutes while stopping six Commodore shots.

Tech returns to action Friday, March 20, when the Hokies face Bucknell at Tech Park. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.
