Dawn Will gives women's lacrosse another strong performance.

April 18, 1999

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Virginia Tech dropped its second-straight non-conference contest as the Hokies bowed, 15-12, to American University in women's collegiate lacrosse action Sunday afternoon.

The contest, postponed March 13 due to inclement weather in Washington, D.C., was played at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va., to minimize travel time for both squads.

The Hokies received another strong performance from junior attack wing Dawn Will (Phoenix, Md.). Will, who has 41 goals on the season, exploded for five Sunday to lead Tech in the loss. Tech also got an impressive showing from senior Catherine Augustyn (Fairfax, Va.), who finished with two goals despite battling a leg injury. Junior Maeghan O' Doherty (Annapolis, Md.) also added two goals.

American was led by senior Eleni Vegelatos and junior Brooke Morgan, who scored five goals each in the win.

With the loss, the Hokies fall to 7-4 on the season while American improves to 7-5. Tech returns to action Tuesday, April 20 when the Hokies travel to Durham, N.C., to face nationally-ranked Duke University. First draw at Duke Lacrosse Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
