Tsimbidis scores game-winner for Hokies

Virginia Tech outscored Connecticut, 8-5 in the second half and defeated the Huskies, 12-11, in BIG EAST women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Morrone Field in Storrs.
Lisa Tsimbidis scored her fourth goal of the afternoon with :11 remaining to give the Hokies the come-from-behind victory. Tech took a 10-8 lead on a goal by Kate Bjorke with 10:15 remaining, before the Huskies tied the game at the 1:21 mark.
UConn jumped out the a 2-0 lead before Tech scored its first goal by Kellyn Hentz on an assist from Lacey Dieringer. The Huskies pushed its lead to 6-3 before Tech closed out the half on a goal by Bjorke with 11:43 remaining before intermission.
Tsimbidis and Hentz led the Hokies with four goals each, while Bjorke had two goals in the win. Pam Lowie led all scorers with six goals and an assist for UConn. Stacey Rainbolt had another strong game in the goal with 14 saves for Virginia Tech.
Virginia Tech, now 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST, concludes the five-game road trip on Wednesday, as they travel to Davidson for a 4 p.m. contest. Connecticut is now 2-10 overall and 0-5 in conference action.
