Fuchs Named To All-Tournament Team
Freshman tallies three points in first-round game
May 2, 2005

BALTIMORE, Md. - Virginia Tech freshman midfielder Natasha Fuchs tallied two goals and had an assist en route to being named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Tournament team Sunday afternoon.

Fuchs (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted Tech's third goal of the day, assisted on the fourth and scored the final goal of the afternoon in the 15-5 first-round loss to North Carolina on Thursday.

Later Thursday evening, she was named the ACC Freshman of the Year after posting a league-high 36 assists. In addition to her league-leading 2.50 assists per game, she was also in the top 10 in points (3.86) and draw controls (2.29) per game.

Fuchs broke Tech's single-season record for assists, which was set by Suzy Funston in 1996 with 25. She is also fifth on the career list in that category. Fuchs posted the fourth-best point total in a single season at Virginia Tech with 57 while also garnering the eighth most draw controls in a season (32).

"I think it is a great honor, especially with the talented players that are on the other teams. She should be extremely proud of what she has done as are we," head coach Tami Riley said.
