Mastro Named Assistant Lacrosse Coach
Former Hokie returns to alma mater

BLACKSBURG, Va. -Virginia Tech lacrosse coach Tami Riley announced the hiring of former Hokie Christine Mastro as assistant coach.
"I am extremely excited to have Christine back here at Tech," said Riley. "She brings wonderful personality and competitiveness to the team. Her pride in Virginia Tech will definitely help take us to the next level."
Mastro comes to Tech from Brown University, where she served as an assistant for two years. Her responsibilities at Brown included recruiting, travel coordinating and assisting with practice planning. In addition, her on-field coaching duties focused primarily on the attack.
A native of Latham, N.Y., Mastro graduated from Tech in 1999 with a degree in health and physical education. A lacrosse player for four years, Mastro was a starter on the squad that won the Atlantic-10 Championship in 1999. In addition, she received the Coach's Award her senior year.
Prior to coaching at Brown, Mastro worked at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, Va. There she served as the assistant varsity tennis coach in 1999 and the head varsity swim coach from 1999-2000. Mastro was also a substitute teacher while at Cave Spring. In addition, she has coached at numerous lacrosse camps and served as assistant director at the Brown Lacrosse Camp in 2001-2002.
