Lacrosse Inks Four In Early Signing Period
Virginia Tech welcomes Fratter, Galindo, McBrearty and Reich

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech lacrosse staff announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2005 season. Christen Fratter, Jessica Galindo, Kady McBrearty and Jenna Reich have all signed National Letters of Intent to play with the Hokies.
"I am looking forward to seeing this group of great players gel with the team," Head Coach Tami Riley said. "These four individuals will help the future success of this program."
A three-sport standout, Fratter played lacrosse, field hockey and basketball at Chantilly High. Throughout her lacrosse career, the Chantilly, Va., native has been named all-Metro honorable mention, first-team all-northern region, the Concord District Player of the Year and a United States Lacrosse Academic All-American. Her father, Jeffery, played football and baseball at the University of Delaware, while her sister plays club lacrosse at the University of South Carolina. She intends to major in graphic arts.
An Ellicott City, Md., native, Galindo joins the Hokies from Mt. Hebron High where she played lacrosse, basketball and ran cross country. A standout on defense, Galindo was named the best defender on her team and all-county in cross country.
Throughout her career at Oldfields School in Alexandria, Va., McBrearty participated in lacrosse, basketball, soccer and tennis. A starter on the attack, McBrearty was a two-time league all-star and the high point scorer on her team last spring. She was selected to play for the 2003 United States Lacrosse Tournament Mid-Atlantic Region Four team. Her twin sister, Kendell, plans to play lacrosse for the University of Virginia next year.
A Millersville, Md., native, Reich comes to Tech from Severna Park High School where she was coached by Steve Barry. An academic All-American in lacrosse, Reich also played field hockey and ran cross country. Reich is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society and Mind in Motion. She intends to major in biology.
The Hokies begin their 2004 season on Sunday, March. 7, 2004, when they host Georgetown at 1 p.m. This will be the first game for Tech in the new Lacrosse Complex.
