Hokies Fall To Boston College 13-8
Lindsay Pieper nets three goals

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Virginia Tech lacrosse team jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on Boston College but lost a hard-fought 13-8 match to the Eagles Sunday afternoon after being outscored nine to four in the second half.
Tech's Lindsay Pieper had a team-high three goals and tallied an assist for four points on the day. Junior Britt Faulkner netted two scores while sophomore Natasha Fuchs had a goal and two assists in the match.
The Eagles were led by Emily Hannigan's four goals. Elizabeth Kadison tallied two goals and two assists while Jenna McCabe totaled three points on two goals and an assist.
Pieper, a junior, picked up a ground ball after her own shot attempt 4:17 into the contest and found Faulkner, who promptly netted the first score of the day. Pieper put the Hokies up 2-0 after scoring her first goal with 14:38 remaining in the first half.
Freshman Casey Warner netted a goal with just over 12 minutes left in the opening stanza after receiving a pass from Fuchs. However, the Eagles would score the next four goals, giving them a 4-3 advantage at the 6:39 mark.
After a spectacular save by senior goalkeeper Carrie Hill on a free-position shot with 2:20 left in the half, Tech went the length of the field and evened the score at four apiece with 2:02 remaining. Fuchs tallied her only goal of the match off a Pieper assist.
The Hokies would open the second half with a goal by Faulkner for a 5-4 lead. Senior Katie Boyle was credited with an assist on the play. The Eagles would score the next three goals for a 7-5 advantage before sophomore Katie Russo found senior Stephanie Jones, who brought Tech to within one.
Hannigan scored two of the next three goals, giving the Eagles a 9-6 lead with 15:10 left in the match. Tech fought back and pulled to within two at 10-8, but could get no closer. Pieper found the back of the net for the Hokies' final two goals of the match, with the last coming at 8:54. Kadison tallied two of the final three scores of the match to secure the victory for Boston College.
Hill amassed 11 saves for the Hokies while the Eagles' Katie Monaghan totaled 10 saves in the match.
Boyle and Pieper had a match-high three draw controls apiece. Christina Griel, Jones, Fuchs and Faulkner each added two.
In addition to her goal, Jones had a match-high three caused turnovers. She also had a team-best three ground balls, as did junior Bryana Keenan.
With her goal, Jones moves into third place on Tech's career points scored list. She now has 131 during her four years. Jones also climbed the chart for career ground balls. She is tied with Courtney Hubbard and Meaghan O'Doherty for eighth place on the list. Jones has 102 ground balls in her career.
Junior Jamie Webster and Boyle are now tied for third on Tech's career caused turnover list. They each have forced 63 turnovers. Boyle is also sixth on the single-season caused turnover list with 23 this season. Fuchs stands in fifth place on the career draw controls list with 80. Faulkner is now seventh on the career goals scored list with 87.
The Hokies look to rebound on Wednesday, Apr. 12, at 4 p.m., when they travel to Farmville, Va., to take on the Longwood Lancers.
