Pieper Named IWLCA All-Region
Junior midfielder scored 46 goals for the Hokies

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Junior midfielder Lindsay Pieper (Rensselear, N.Y.) was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Regional team, it was announded on Thursday.
Pieper was named to the second-team in the south region. Players were selected by coaches in the region.
A team captain, Pieper led the Hokies with 46 goals and 54 points and was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference. Her 46 goals ties for third on the single-season list at Tech. One of her best games this season came against Davidson, where she netted six goals with an assist. For her career, Piper has 85 goals, tying her for eighth on the all-time list.
Pieper led the team in scoring in ACC games, with nine goals. She tallied eight assists on the year.
At the ACC Tournament, she scored two goals against North Carolina and was named to the all-tournament team.
Defensively, she tied for the team lead with 27 caused turnovers, which ties for fifth best on the single-season list at Tech, and had 30 ground balls. Pieper finished third on the team with 23 draw controls.
She is also a standout in the classroom, holding down a 3.97 grade point average while double majoring in communication and history. Pieper was the winner of the 2006 Skeleton Award, which is given to the top female and male scholar-athlete at Virginia Tech.
Pieper currently ranks eighth all-time at Tech in points (107), sixth in draw controls (80) and tied for fourth in caused turnovers (62).
Pieper was one of 32 players recognized from the south region.
Virginia Tech, which ended its season with a 12-7 loss to North Carolina in the ACC Tournament, finished the year with an 8-9 record.
