Six Hokies named to All-ACC Academic team
Martin honored for the third time

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team saw six student-athletes honored as members of the 2013 Women’s Lacrosse All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. Seniors Brooke Martin, Charlotte Marsh and Libby Rosebro joined junior Kelly Naslonski, sophomore Megan Will and freshman Meghan Macera on this year’s squad. This is the third time Martin has been named to the team, while Marsh, Rosebro and Will repeated on last year’s honors. Naslonski and Macera were honored for the first time. Maryland’s Katie Schwarzmann was named the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Martin, a communications major, finished her four-year career as a start this season with 34 goals on the year, good for second best on the team. She also tallied 37 points and won 18 draws while on attack.

Marsh, a biology major, was a staple in the Hokie defense for the past two seasons. This year she was part of a unit that held 10 of Tech’s opponents to single-digit scoring. Individually, Marsh grabbed 20 ground balls and caused nine turnovers, while also assisting two goals.

Rosebro, a studio art major, recently wrapped up her career as a three-year starter. Spending time as both a defender and midfielder, Rosebro spent her final season in the midfield and finished second on the team with 38 points, byway of 24 goals and 14 assists.

In just her second season, Will lead the Hokies in scoring with 42 goals on the year, while also ranking fifth in the conference in scoring (2.62) and tied for sixth in points (3.38). A human development major, Will notched a pair of six-goal games this season, at UC Davis and against Longwood.

Naslonski, a human nutrition, food and exercise major, gave Tech quality play off the bench throughout the season. Playing in 13 games and making two starts, Naslonski finished the year second on the team with 13 assists, while also putting away 10 goals.

Macera, an art major, earned a starting spot right away and finished her debut playing in 15 games, making 14 starts. Taking on more of a defensive role towards the end of the season, Macera was strong on the draw, ranking second on the team with 31 and ninth in the league (2.07).
