Getting to know Emma Crooks

Emma Crooks #31
Great Falls, VA

Q: Why did you choose Virginia Tech?

CROOKS: “Tech was always my first choice. I love the campus, it’s the perfect distance from home and it is a really good balance between academics and athletics.”

Q: What was your favorite thing about your visit?

CROOKS: “Definitely the football game. The energy, I’ve never been to such an amazing football event.”

Q: What do you like about Coach Sung and the lacrosse program?

CROOKS: “He really tries to get us to learn new things. Yes, it’s about winning, but he also wants to make us better players and better people through lacrosse.”

Q: What are some of your strengths on the field?

CROOKS: “I would just love to assist in the midfield portion, so either on the draw or in general being a great you know team advocator and just support each other to help do that as much as I can.”

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete?

CROOKS: “My dad went to Indiana University, so we kind of grew up being big Hoosiers basketball fans and Victor Oladipo was one I kind of favor.”

Q: What is your most memorable lacrosse moment and why?

CROOKS: “Senior year we made to the state semi championship game, and that was the furthest we had ever gone in a really long time for the school, and it was the same year that we had won regionals, and district for the first time in like seven years. So I would say just senior year in general.”

Q: What are your academic interests?

CROOKS: “I’m currently undecided. I’m leaning towards either business or international relations. It seems to have a lot of opportunities within those in terms of jobs.”

Q: What has been your favorite part about Virginia Tech so far?

CROOKS: “I think the first team tailgate for the football game, because I’ve been to one before obviously during my official visit, but then actually coming here as a Hokie and getting to experience it was really cool.”

Q: What kind of music do you listen to and who is your favorite artist?

CROOKS: “I love to listen to EDM, but I also like R&B. I would say Khalid is one of my favorites, or Flume.”

Q: What are you most looking forward to about the fall lacrosse season?

CROOKS: “Because last year was a big year for Tech, and it was kind of new that the women’s lacrosse team did so well, I think there’s a chance a lot of people think it was a fluke season, so I’m excited this year to reinforce the fact that we are a really good lacrosse team, and that’s our reputation now. So I would say in fall ball just setting that standard for us going into the spring.”
