Hokies move up to 14th in latest Inside Lacrosse Poll

BLACKSBURG – Following Tech’s 15-14 victory over Louisville Saturday, the Hokies jumped up to No. 14 in this week’s Inside Lacrosse poll.

Paige Petty scored seven goals and Taylor Caskey added four, including the game-winner as the Hokies edged Louisville on the road Saturday afternoon.

After trailing by four goals at the half, the Hokies outscored the Cards 8-3 in the second frame to earn the victory.

Tech used a 5-0 run to take control late in the second half, where Petty and Caskey combined for all five tallies, taking Tech from down two goals to leading with 4:01 to play. The win marked several milestones for the lacrosse program, as the Hokies earned their first victory over the Cards in six tries, as well as reached double digits in the win column in back-to-back seasons.

With their third ACC win of the season, Tech has set the program record for league wins in a season since joining the conference in 2005.

Head coach John Sung owns five of the Hokies’ eight ACC wins all-time in just his two seasons in Blacksburg.

Saturday, senior Marissa Davey scored two goals, bringing her career tally to 101 goals. In her second season with the Hokies, Davey has 49 goals after transferring from UMBC where she scored 52 goals in two seasons with the Terriers.

The Hokies are back on the field on Saturday, April 7 when they take on the No. 18 Syracuse Orange from Thompson Field. First draw is set for 1 p.m. with coverage available on ACC Network Extra.
