BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Lenny Brown scored 24 points, 18 in the second half Wednesday, as Xavier beat Virginia Tech 80-67 for the Musketeers fifth consecutive victory.

The Hokies (5-6, 0-2 Atlantic 10) got as close as 57-54 after Brendan Dunlop hit two free throws with 6:03 left. Brown then scored the next eight points with a pair of 3-pointers and a jumper to spark a 10-2 run and a 67-56 lead with 4:18 left.

James Posey added 20 points for Xavier (10-4, 2-0), while Kevin Frey had 12 and Gary Lumpkin 10.

Brown started out slow, hitting only 2-for-8 from the field, including 0-for-5 on 3-pointers. He found the range in the second 20 minutes, shooting 7-for-10, including 4-for-6 from long range.

Virginia Tech had a season-high 23 turnovers that Xavier converted into 32 points. The Hokies also had a season-high 24 fouls as the Musketeers were 22-for-27 from the line.

Dunlop and Eddie Lucas led the Hokies with 17 points apiece, and Rolan Roberts added 10.
