PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Donnie Carr scored 19 points to lead La Salle to a 75-67 victory over Virginia Tech in an Atlantic 10 game Tuesday.

Victor Thomas added 17 points for the Explorers (6-7, 2-2), who connected on a season-high 13 3-point shots.

Eddie Lucas had 17 points and Rolan Roberts 15 for the Hokies (5-8, 0-4), who lost their fourth game in a row.

La Salle, leading 48-43 with 11:08 to play, went on a 11-point spurt capped by a 3-pointer by Thomas to take its biggest lead, 59-43, with eight minutes to go.

Virginia Tech closed to within 70-63 on a 3-pointer by Lucas with 1:51 remaining, but Carr hit a free throw and a layup to secure the Explorers' victory.

La Salle took a 37-29 lead at halftime, hitting on 8 of 14 shots from 3-point range. Julian Blanks had 11 points in the half, hitting on all four of his shots, including three 3-pointers.

The victory was La Salle's 1,100 in the school's history, since starting varsity basketball in 1931-32.
