Zeno Joins Men's Basketball Staff
Former Norfolk State staffer named administrative assistant

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Seth Greenberg has announced the hiring of Art Zeno as Administrative Assistant of Men's Basketball for the Hokies.

With the Hokies, Zeno will be responsible for team travel, recruiting organization and will assist with scheduling. He will also work as the liaison with the academic advising staff in monitoring the team's academic progress.

"Art Zeno is a basketball lifer," head coach Seth Greenberg said. "He is in this business for all the right reasons. He has a genuine concern for young people. His work ethic is outstanding, and he has made tremendous sacrifices to pursue a career in athletics."

Zeno joins the staff from Norfolk State, where he served as an assistant coach last season for head coach Dwight Freeman. While with the Spartans, Zeno was responsible for a wide range of duties, including on-court coaching of post players, scouting, film exchange and game preparations. Prior to NSU, Zeno taught in the Orleans Parish School System. He taught seventh grade and coached at the Charles Colton Middle School in New Orleans.

Zeno was an assistant coach at Mississippi State from 1998-2000. At MSU, Zeno had responsibilities in on-campus recruiting, scouting of opponents, video tape exchange and summer basketball camps. He also worked as a liasion with the academic staff.

Zeno joined Mississippi State after working for nine years coaching amateur and youth teams in the New Orleans area. He was an assistant coach with New Orleans Jazz Adidas touring team and head coach of the New Orleans Stallions AAU team. As a youth coach, Zeno coached well-known players Kerry Kittles, Jonathan Bender and Chris Duhon.

From 1986-88 he was the head coach at Phillips Junior High in New Orleans and was an assistant basketball coach at John F. Kennedy High School in New Orleans in 1983. He was also a teacher and coach in New Orleans from 1981-82.

Zeno is a 1999 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in social studies and a minor in physical education. He earned an associate degree from El Camino College in 1981.
