Men's Basketball Loses Center For Season

Knee injury sidelines McPherson.

November 10, 1998

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech basketball center Clinton McPherson will miss the remainder of the season after further tests revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

McPherson dislocated his right kneecap in practice back on October 24. Dr. Duane Lagan, Tech's director of sports medicine, said that tests over the weekend showed ligament damage in his knee. Lagan said that McPherson will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Nov. 20 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

McPherson, a freshman from Miami, Fla., redshirted last season and was expected to see playing time at center for the Hokies.
