Hokies Fall at ODU, 55-46
Dixon leads Tech with 18 points

NORFOLK, Va. -- Virginia Tech suffered its first loss of the season, 55-46, to Old Dominion in men's basketball action Saturday night in Norfolk, Va. The loss drops the Hokies to 2-1 overall, while the Monarchs are also 2-1.
The Hokies suffered through a cold night from the field, making just 17 of 57 field goal attempts, for 29.8% from the floor. The Tech defense held ODU to just 32.8% from the field. ODU held a slight advantage on the boards, 42-40.
Old Dominion led throughout most of the first half and took a 24-19 lead into intermission. The Hokies made a run midway through the second half and took the lead, 35-33, on a three-point field goal by junior guard Brian Chase (Washington, D.C.). ODU regained the lead for good with 6:13 remaining in the game.
Sophomore guard Carlos Dixon (Salisbury, N.C.) was the only Hokie in double-figures with 18 points. He also added four assists and three blocked shots for Tech. Junior center Terry Taylor (Chesapeake, Va.) led Tech in rebounding with eight boards. ODU's Ricardo Marsh led all scorers with 21 points and Rasheed Wright and Pierre Green added 13 points each.
The night marked the final game for Old Dominion in the Scope. ODU moves into an on-campus facility next season.
The Hokies return to action on Tuesday night, as they host East Carolina at 7 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum.
