Taylor records double-double in victory

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Senior Terry Taylor recorded a double-double as the Virginia Tech men's basketball team defeated Morgan State, 71-64, Saturday night at Cassell Coliseum. Taylor finished the night with 19 points and 14 boards.

Tech started the second half with a 9-0 run to erase a 30-26 halftime lead for Morgan State. The Hokies took advantage of poor shooting by the Bears to take the lead with 18:33 remaining the game, and Tech never looked back. The Hokies led by as many 11 points during the second half and were able to hold off a late run by the Bears to secure the team's fifth win of the season.

To go along with Taylor's numbers, Carlos Dixon had 17 points and a career-high six blocked shots and Bryant Matthews added 14 points and nine rebounds.

For the Bears, Aaron Andrews led the way with 15 points and 14 boards. Douglas Sims and Cedrick Barrow chipped in with 14 points a piece.

The Hokies will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 21 as they travel to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
