Virginia Tech Falls to Chattanooga, 84-70

Virginia Tech lost to Chattanooga, 84-70, in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at McKenzie Arena.

Tech jumped out to an 11-7 lead with 16:00 remaining in the first half, but the Mocs went on a 25-12 run to give UTC a 32-23 lead with 4:50 remaining before intermission. UTC took a 38-33 lead into the half. Tech could get no closer in the second half.

The Hokies shot a season-high 52.7% from the floor, but were outrebounded 36-23 by UTC. Tech made one more field goal than the Mocs, but UTC made 11 more free throws than Tech, shooting 83.3% from the line.

Joe Hamilton scored a career-high 18 points to lead Tech. Bryant Matthews added 14 points in the loss. Neil Ashby scored 18 points to lead UTC.

Tech, now 5-5 on the season, returns to action next Saturday, as they host High Point at 2 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. Chattanooga is now 3-5.
