Krabbendam to Have Knee Surgery
Sophomore post player out indefinitely
October 31, 2005
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech men's basketball player Robert Krabbendam suffered a medial meniscus tear in his left knee in practice on Saturday and will undergo surgery on Tuesday at Montgomery Regional Hospital by team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Scott Urch.
Krabbendam, a sophomore post player from Hoorn, Netherlands, will be out indefinitely following the surgery. Krabbendam will be re-evaluated following his surgery and his status will be determined at a later time.
"I'm disappointed for both Robert and our basketball program," head coach Seth Greenberg said. "He's worked extremely hard since arriving on campus and we were counting on him to contribute in a major way. Knowing Robert, his work ethic and attitude, he will do everything the doctors recommend and will rehab with the same focus and energy with which he does everything."
Krabbendam played in 22 games last season, starting six times. He averaged 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds per game as a freshman.
