Hokies add Seton Hall in Madison Square Garden
West Florida to replace Lipscomb on men's hoops schedule
September 11, 2006 BLACKSBURG, Va. - A game in Madison Square Garden against Seton Hall highlights changes to the previously announced Virginia Tech 2006-07 men's basketball schedule. The Hokies will play 2006 NCAA Tournament participant Seton Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 in Madison Square Garden as the first game of a nationally-televised doubleheader. The second game will be fellow ACC member Duke versus Gonzaga. The Tech game will be televised live by ESPNU. To accommodate the addition, the Hokies and Lipscomb agreed to cancel their game on Dec. 19 in Cassell Coliseum. The schools attempted to move the game to another date, but could not mutually agree on a date. To replace the Lipscomb game, the Hokies will now host West Florida in Cassell Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m. "We are excited to have a chance to play in Madison Square Garden, the World's Most Famous Arena," head coach Seth Greenberg said. "Having a game in the Garden is just another reflection of the national profile that we are developing. To play a quality BIG EAST opponent will only help our non-conference RPI." With the addition of the Seton Hall game, the Hokies will now appear on national television at least 12 times this season. Tech will have at least 20 games televised. The Hokies will open the 2006-07 regular season schedule on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum against Coppin State. That is the second game of a doubleheader, which begins at 5:30 p.m., when the Virginia Tech women's basketball team host Radford in their season-opener.
