Dowdell, Gordon earns All-ACC honors
Senior guards on all-conference and defensive teams
March 5, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech guard Zabian Dowdell has been named to the All-ACC first team. The All-ACC teams are selected by voting of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Guard Jamon Gordon was named to the All-ACC third team. Dowdell, a senior from Pahokee, Fla. led the Hokies in scoring this season, averaging 18.3 points per game. He was an honorable mention All-ACC in each of the past two seasons. This is the first time that Gordon, a senior from Jacksonville, Fla., has made any All-ACC team. Both Gordon and Dowdell have also been named to the ACC All-Defensive team. This is the second consecutive season that both Dowdell and Gordon have been named to the All-Defensive team. Gordon and Dowdell led the ACC in steals this season. Dowdell's first team All-ACC appearance marks the first time that a Hokie has been named first team All-ACC. He becomes the first Hokie to make an all-conference first team since Bryant Matthews was named first team All-BIG EAST Conference in the 2003-04 season, the Hokies' final season in the BIG EAST Conference.
