Delaney named to Sporting News All-America team
Junior guard named to fourth team
March 9, 2010

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney has been named a fourth team selection on the Sporting News All-America team, as selected by the publication and announced on Tuesday.

A junior from Baltimore, Md., Delaney led the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring this season and was a unanimous selection to the All-ACC first team, as announced yesterday. He is also this week’s ACC Player of the Week, for his performances in wins over NC State and Georgia Tech last week.

Delaney is the first Virginia Tech player to earn All-America honors since Zabian Dowdell was named an honorable mention AP All-America selection in 2007.

Delaney is one of four ACC players to make Sporting News’ five All-America teams. Maryland’s Greivis Vasquez was a first team selection, Duke’s Jon Scheyer was named to the second team and Duke’s Kyle Singler was a fifth team selection.
