RALEIGH, N.C. – Virginia Tech lost to NC State, 69-53, in ACC men’s basketball action on Saturday night at the PNC Arena.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a 30-14 lead with 3:39 remaining in the first half, but Tech fought back, spurred by 10 consecutive points from Justin Bibbs and a three-pointer at the buzzer by Adam Smith to cut the NC State lead to 32-25 at the intermission. Tech opened the second half on an 11-7 run in the first four minutes to cut the lead to three points, but could get no closer.

Bibbs led all scorers with 19 points and Smith added 15 points for the Hokies. Christian Beyer, who earned his third start of the season, added eight points, seven rebounds and three assists, making all four of his field goal attempts. Ralston Turner led the Wolfpack with 18 points and Trevor Lacy added 14 points.

The Hokies committed just eight turnovers and were only out rebounded, 28-23. NC State shot 52.1 percent from the floor and the Hokies shot 45.8 percent.

Tonight’s game ended a three-game road swing during the last eight days for the Hokies. Tech returns to Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday night to face nationally-ranked Duke. The game will tip-off at 9 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
