Hokies earn road win at Boston College, 71-56

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Virginia Tech posted a 71-56 road victory at Boston College Tuesday night in Conte Forum in ACC men’s basketball action. With the win, the Hokies move to 15-13 overall and 7-8 in ACC action. Boston College falls to 7-21 overall and 0-15 in conference play.

The Hokies made 13 of their 24 shots in the first half, including three of four shots from three-point range to take a 40-27 lead into intermission. Tech shot 49.1 percent for the game and led by double-figures throughout the second half, twice stretching the lead to 20 points.

Seth Allen scored 14 points and four assists, to go along with a season-high four steals for the Hokies. He scored 10 points in the first half. Justin Bibbs recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kerry Blackshear Jr., came off the bench to contribute 10 points and five rebounds. Eli Carter had 19 points for the Eagles.

The Hokies’ bench outscored BC’s bench 24-0 and Tech added 14 points off of 15 Boston College turnovers. Tech played all 13 players who dressed for the game and nine Hokies scored in the contest.

The 15-point margin of victory is the third-highest margin of victory for the Hokies in an ACC road game. This is Tech’s second road conference win of the season, the first time the Hokies have won two ACC road games since Tech won three conference road games in the 2010-11 season.

Tech completes the road portion of the 2015-16 schedule on Sunday night, as it travels to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest. The game tips at 6:30 p.m. and will be shown live on ESPNU.
