Hokies Fall to George Washington, 64-50Game Statistics
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Shawnta Rogers had 16 points, and Alexander Koul added 12 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday as George Washington beat Virginia Tech 64-50, to break the Colonials' four-game losing streak.
George Washington (21-7, 10-5 Atlantic 10) led 28-26 at intermission then held the Hokies (9-16, 4-11) to 33.3 percent (8-for-24) from the floor in the second half. Though the Colonials were 0-for-8 from 3-point range and shot a woeful 48.6 percent (18-for-37) from the free-throw line, they made up for that by outrebounding the Hokies 46-32, getting 11 points off the offensive boards.
The Hokies had 14 turnovers that the Colonials converted into another 11 points. Virginia Tech managed only five offensive rebounds, scoring two points.
Francisco de Miranda had 10 points for the Colonials, and Rogers added five assists.
Rolan Roberts led the Hokies with 18 points, and Eddie Lucas had 12.
