Hokies Open Season At Matlock Invitational
    Johnson Wagner is Top Finsher

    LAKELAND, Fla.-The Virginia Tech men's golf team opened the 2000 season at the Matlock Invitational,Tuesday.

    The Hokies captured 13th place out of the 18 teams participating in the 72-par event. Tech's top finisher was Johnson Wagner, who tied for 24th place with rounds of 72-76-75-223.

    Other finishers for the Hokies were Chris McKeel, tied for 34th with rounds of 77-76-72-225. Brian Krusoe tied for 54th with rounds of 76-75-78-229. Brendon de Jonge finished tied for 63rd with rounds of 79-71-81-231. Eric Reynolds captured the 76th spot with rounds of 80-78-79-237.

    The Hokies return to action Thursday, March 9 when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to compete at the Birkdale Classic.
