Hokies Ready to Tee Off at East Regional

AUBURN, Ala. - After a storm-delayed practice round, the Virginia Tech golf team has completed preparations for the NCAA East Regional at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain forced a one hour delay in Wednesday mornings' practice rounds. The Hokies had not teed off prior to the delay. Tech played the final four holes of the practice round in a steady rain, but the round was not delayed a second time. Rain is forecast in the Auburn area for the remainder of the week.

The Hokies open play on Thursday afternoon at 1:18 p.m. ET from the 10th tee. Tech, the 11th seed in the regional, will be paired with 10th seed Vanderbilt and 12th seed East Tennessee State in the first two rounds. The three teams will tee of Friday's second round at 9:15 a.m. ET from the first tee.

The top 10 teams from each of the three regionals will advance to the 2003 NCAA Men's Golf Championship in Stillwater, Okla. the last week of May.
