Krusoe Selected for East-West Tournament
Event part of the 2001 NCAA Championships
May 25, 2001 DURHAM, N.C. - Brian Krusoe has been selected to play in the 2001 GCAA East-West Matches presented by Golf World which will take place on Monday, May 28 at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C. Krusoe, a junior from Northfield, Ohio, is the 2001 BIG EAST Conference co-medalist. He qualified for the 2001 East-West tournament by the Hokies advancing to the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, held at Duke May 30-June 2. The event pits the 18-man East unit against the 18-man West team in four-ball, match play competition. The nine individual matches are worth one point apiece to the winner. Duke head coach and GCAA Hall of Famer Rod Myers will direct the West squad while Ed Cottrell, the former coach at West Chester (Pa.) University and also a member of the GCAA Hall of Fame, will lead the East team. Krusoe is teamed with Christian Newton of Georgia Southern. The duo will play Parker McLachlin of UCLA and Wilhelm Schauman of Minnesota. The group will tee off at 9:10 a.m. from the 10th tee.
